2.0, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, is just one day away from its release in the cinemas. An S Shankar directorial, the film has huge buzz surrounding its release, courtesy the extravagant scale and of course the presence of cine bigwigs such as Rajinikanth and Akshay in it. In such a scenario, the expectations from the film are sky-high with regard to its performance at the box-office. We spoke to film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi to understand the box-office prospects of the film.

On being asked if the Hindi version of 2.0 had the potential to beat the opening-day record set by the Hindi version of Thugs of Hindostan (Rs  50.75 crore), Akshaye said, “That is pretty ambitious and tough but having said that, I am still confident that the it will do pretty well. In my opinion, it will open with better numbers than an Akshay Kumar film normally does. “At the end of the day, it’s not just an Akshay Kumar film. It also has Rajinikanth, a huge scale, the VFX, a director like S Shankar and a music director like AR Rahman. It is a terrific package. All these factors combined together make it a possible blockbuster,” he added.

2.0, also starring Amy Jackson in a pivotal role, releases November 29. The film, produced by Lyca Productions, is made on a budget of around Rs 543 crore, which makes it the most expensive Indian film till date.
